This is Grand Bend's largest “Lifestyle Community” owned by a company named Capreit”. “Capreit is Canada’s largest publicly traded provider of quality rental housing. As of December 31st, 2022, they own or have interest in approximately 67,000 residential apartment suites, townhouses and manufactured home community sites across Canada and the Netherlands. They own about $17 billion of investment properties in Canada and Europe.

As this is a gated community, we have opted only to show the front entranceway area. Pictures can be found on realtor.ca of actual units for sale.

This community offers leased land arrangements. Owners pay a monthly land lease charge. Activities street names found here include Agusta Crescent, Bilmer Drive, Concor Drive, Cypress Point Crescent, Dunes Drive, Edgewater Crescent, Hickory Hills Court, Homestead Heights, Glen Abbey Court, Lakewood Lane, London Hunt Circle, Pebble Beach Parkway, Pintree Lane, Maple Grove Court, Mississauga Place, Monterey Park, Sandpiper Square, Shannon Boulevard, St. Andrews Place and Wyldwood Lane.

Things to do here include lawn bowling, golf leagues, billiards and exercise room, pickleball, shuffleboard, tennis and gardening. Gardening plots can be provided. There is also a workshop, heated pool, and a clubhouse. If youre searching the internet, you will also find information on the Grand Cove Homeowners Association. It notes, at this time of writing (2023), that there are 661 residents living in Grand Cove. Once again this is Grand Bends largest lifestyle community.

Now for a couple of general observations. Our populations are aging. What this means is that more and more people now need to find comfortable and affordable four-season living accommodations. How comfortable can that be? Well, the construction of prefabricated homes has come a long way in the past few years or so. Visit, for example, the Northland Industries website (northlandindustries.com). They are not associated with the “Capreit” Grand Cove” site, however, they do compliment this shift towards the recognition and acceptance of modular home living. View their product offerings online. They also just happened to be located in Exeter, only 24km away and over the past 55+ years have sold over 21,000 units.

Yet another big name in providing Lifestyle communities is “Parkbridge Homes The Lake Huron shoreline is dotted with mobile trailer parks, many of which have been visited by families for generations. Parkbridge” has big year-round living sites in Sarnia, Exeter, Strathroy and Bayfield to name a few locations. Many of the older trailer parks are getting new leases on life thanks in part to rapidly rising cottage prices and proliferation of attractive and somewhat affordable prefabricated homes. Call it the perfect storm. Lifestyle communities are only going to grow in popularity.
